Trunyan Village
Guide : Okey, Miss Cameron, we have
arrived at Trunyan village. How was your feeling?
Cameron : Owh… it was ridiculous. I’m not good
in long way travelling.
Guide : Really? I thought you were
happy, but I believe that you will be amazed when you see this village.
Cameron : Of course, I wish, but where will we
go then?
Guide : we are going to meet chief of
this village. Ohh… she is there.
Giude : Swastyastu Ibu.
Local : Swastyastu, ada yang bisa saya
bantu?
Guide : Iya, saya Made Dewi dari
Panorama leisure, tamu saya dari Amerika ingin melihat kuburan desa Trunyan.
Miss Cameron, she is the chief of this village.
Cameron : Hi, I’m Cameron, How are you?
Local : Emmm…
Guide : Namanya Cameron, bagaimana kabar
ibu?
Local : Ohh… baik sekali.
Guide : She is very good.
Cameron : What is your name?
Guide : Mohon maaf, nama ibu siapa?
Local : Nama saya Nyoman Mekar.
Guide : Her name is Nyoman Mekar.
Cameron : Nyoman Mekar, nice to meet you.
Guide : Senang bertemu dengan ibu.
Local : ya, terima kasih. Mari kita
langsung menuju ke kuburan.
Guide : Iya, now, Miss Cameron, we are
going to go to cemetery of this village.
Cameron : Okey.
Local : Kita sudah sampai.
Guide : Here it is, Miss Cameron.
Cameron : Owh my God, what’s on earth are they
doing? Why do they just lie corpse on the ground?
Guide : I have told you before that you
would be amazed. Let’s ask Miss Mekar about this cemetery. Bu Mekar, tolong
jelaskan sedikit tentang kuburan di Trunyan ini!
Local : Kuburan disini memang berbeda
dari kuburan masyarakat Bali pada umumnya. Kita tidak pernah membakar atau
mengubur mayat dari warga yang meninggal.
Guide : This cemetery is much different
from others cemetery in Bali generally. They have never cremated or buried
corpse of their people.
Cameron : Really? Why it doesn’t release any
bad smell?
Guide : It is because of the weather in
Trunyan is cool enough and this big Menyan tree can absorb the bad smell. The
name of this village is also derived from the name of this tree, “Taru” means
tree and “Menyan” means nice smell.
Cameron : That’s why this village is called
Trunyan. Why do they put some corpses on that side and some others are here?
Guide : Bu Mekar, kenapa mayatnya
sebagian diletakan disana dan sebagian lagi disini?
Local : Kuburan disini dibagi menjadi
anak-anak.
Guide : They have three different types
of cemeteries, first one is “Sema Wayah” for normal death, second one is “Sema Bantas” for abnormal death such as,
death which are caused by accident, disease etc, and the last one is “Sema
Nguda” for children.
Cameron : I’ve got it, but how about their
bones? What will they do after it decompose?
Guide : Apa yang akan dilakukan pada
tulang-tulang yang sudah kering?
Local : Kita akan meletakannya di atas
tempat datar di bawah pohon Menyan ini.
Guide : They will put it on a platform
under this Menyan tree.
Cameron : That is outrageous. I’ve never seen
such this cemetery before. That is amazing. May I take some picture?
Guide : Boleh kita mengambil beberapa
gambar?
Local : Tentu saja boleh, silahkan!
Cameron : Miss Mekar, let’s take photo
together.
Guide : Bu Mekar, Miss Cameron ingin
berfoto bersama.
Local : Baik.
Guide : Okey ready?? One, two, three,
cheers…
Cameron : Thank you Miss Mekar.
Guide : Terima kasih Bu.
Local : Ya, terima kasih kembali.
