Simple Present

1.   Simple Present Tense expresses events or situations that exist now(in present time), have existed in the past, and probably will exist in the future. The simple present is used to express habitual or everyday activity, general statements of fact, time table and describe something.
Pattern
a.       Nominal
(+)  S + tobe(is/am/are) + non verb
(-)   S + tobe(is/am/are) + not + non verb
(?)   Tobe(is/am/are) + S + non verb?

(+)  S + V1 (s/es) + O
(-)   S + do/does + not + O
(?)  Do/does + S + O?
Especially for third singular person, we have to add (es/s) after verb. There are three ways to add es/s such as :
·         If word is ended by consonant and preceded by vowel, add –s.(play + s = plays)
·         If word is ended by consonant and preceded by consonant, add –es. (study + es = studies)
·         Words which are ended by -s, -ch, -sh, -o, -x , have to add –es.(kiss + es= kisses)

Examples :
a.       I go to campus everyday.
b.      Water consists of hydrogen and oxygen.
c.       He always eats a sandwich for lunch.
